Wana Udobang is a writer, poet, performer, curator and storyteller. Her practice sits in a tapestry of art, media and advocacy.

As a poet/performer, she has released three spoken word albums taking her across Africa, Europe and North America with commissions from the Edinburgh International Festival, Deutsches Museum, Fonds SozioKultur and the Gates Foundation.

As a journalist she has worked with the Guardian, CNN, BBC, Observer and Aljazeera, receiving fellowships from the Gabriel Garcia Marquez Foundation, the International Women’s Media Foundation and a One World Media Awards nomination.

She was awarded a Ford Foundation grant for her multi-media traveling exhibition Dirty Laundry. She runs The Comfort Food Storytelling Workshop which uses food memories to inspire new stories, alongside other curatorial work exploring food, memory, identity and the body.

Added to her artistic and storytelling practice, she lectures, facilitates trainings and works as a storytelling communications consultant for museums, organisations and non-profits. She is a recipient of the Ama Ata Aidoo Fellowship at Northwestern University and the Camargo Foundation Fellowship.
